Tsitsipas-Rublev advances to second round of men’s singles…Sakkari crashes out in first round of women’s singles


Stefanos Tsitsipas (24, Greece, World No. 5) and Andrei Rublev (25, Russia, World No. 7) won their first matches of the French Open. Hachanov advanced to the second round with a 3-2 (3-6 1-6 6-2 6-1 6-3) victory over Constantin Lestienne (31, FRA, World No. 70) in a close match that lasted three hours and 41 minutes.

Hachanov, who reached the second round with a hard-fought victory, will face Radu Albot (33, Moldova, World No. 113).

In the first round of the women’s singles, Sakari lost 0-2 (6-7<5-7> 5-7) to Karolina Muhova (26, Czech Republic, World No. 43). Sakkari, who reached the quarter-finals of this event in 2021, packed her bags early this year.

Muhova will face Nadia Podroska (26, Argentina, World No. 103) in the second round.
