According to the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) table tennis world ranking women’s singles, which was released on the 2nd, Joo Chun-hee climbed 15 places to 23rd. Shin Yu-bin is 27th, and Jeon Ji-hee is 35th. Choi Hyo-joo is 43rd and Seo Hyo-won is 46th.
Chunhee Joo’s rise in the rankings is due to her performance at the recent World Table Tennis (WTT) event. Chunhee Joo competed in the 2023 WTT Star Contender Bangkok women’s singles held last week and she reached the final. Although she lost to world number 5 Chinese Chen Xingtong in the finals, Chunhui Ju showed off her formidable skills by defeating Japanese powerhouses one after another until reaching the finals.
Joo Chun-hee, who was ranked 1100th in the world rankings in March last year, has shown rapid growth, rising to the 23rd place, standing out in her international competitions in a year and a month.
She was born in China in January 2002, and naturalized as a South Korean citizen in January 2020. She played in the Samsung Life Insurance uniform in the Korean Professional Table Tennis League, where she established herself as the strongest in women’s singles. Three years have passed since her naturalization, but she is expected to be able to compete in the next national team selection match.
