Oh Hyun-gyu has shared his thoughts on lifting his second trophy with Celtic.
Celtic defeated Aberdeen 5-0 in the 38th round of the 2022-23 Scottish Premiership at Celtic Park in Glasgow, Scotland, on 27 July at 8:30 p.m. (KST). Celtic, the Scottish champions, finished the league with 99 points.
Having already clinched the league title with a win over Rangers, Celtic ran out comfortable winners in their final home game of the season. Kyogo Furuhashi opened the scoring early with goals in the 27th and 32nd minutes of the first half. Injuries to Furuhashi and Riel Abada at the start of the second half saw James Forrest and Oh Hyun-Gyu come on.
Oh made a big impact as a substitute. He threatened Aberdeen with a sharp header in the 13th minute of the second half. After taking the lead through Karl Staafeldt’s goal in the 33rd minute, Celtic drove home the point with an Oh multi-goal performance. Oh rattled the net in the 37th minute when he finished off a cross from Jota with a header.
He followed that up with a goal in the 45th minute. He slotted home a second ball from a direct free-kick to complete his hat-trick. Celtic closed out their final home game with a 5-0 victory, led by Oh’s multi-goal performance. The 5-0 victory made the celebration even more exciting. According to football statistics site FútbolScore.com, Oh has a rating of 8.12. He is the third highest rated player in the Celtic squad, behind Starfeld and Matt O’Reilly.안전놀이터
It’s already his sixth league goal. He arrived in the winter and despite playing less time due to Furuhashi’s absence, he has made his presence felt by scoring consistently. Scottish ’67hailhail’ wrote: “Oh Hyun-gyu grabbed the headlines in the game where Celtic won the league title. The future was in sight. He capped off a great day with a great final and gave the Celtic home fans hope that he can play a big part in the future.” The article went on to praise Oh’s performance.
“He scored seven goals (official record) in just 561 minutes of play, which is a goal every 80 minutes,” he added, highlighting Oh’s efficiency. “This bodes well for his first full season next season. I think he’s going to have a great second year next season. Coach Enze Postecoglou should give him more chances in 2023-24. It’s really positive and he’s improved a lot.”
After the game, Oh posted on his personal social media, “Thanks to the support of many fans in Korea, I was able to show them the goal and the win today. I’m grateful and really happy. I would like to ask for your support for the final game of the season, the cup final. I will always do my best to share good news with you. Thank you very much.”
